My friend is thinking about buying a Lowrance ELITE TI . Does anyone have one of these units? Any info you have would be greatly appreciated!

Lowrance ti is basically a HDS touch (with some cost cutting to make it more affordable) ...

    5"'and 7" only
    Touch screen
    CHIRP 2d
    Structure Scan
    DownScan
    Bluetooth
    Wireless

    No Ethernet ...

I just purchased one. Great unit. Only problem so far is that the transducer bracket mounting holes are drilled slightly off from the factory. I had to open the holes 2 bit sizes larger. I'm just got my Yamaha F70 hooked up to it via the NMEA 2000 connection. The wireless internet client key was tough to find but once I found the key I connect my ipad and can control the 7ti with it from the bow. The units are not shipping with bluetooth capabilities at this time. The manual says it will be available early 2016 via software update. Most of the features follow the HDS series but you cannot display chirp and sidescan at the same time. All other sonar frequencies can be displayed together with sidescan and downscan at the same time.

There were some ti units shipped with the wrong xducer bracket ...

Call Lowrance and they will send you the correct bracket ...

Just installed the 7ti total scan. Played with it today on the lake and really like it. Have mine mounted on the Trolling motor. Called the folks at transducer shield and they don't have one ready to ship yet but should have them in about a month. I used the factory bracket and just widened the 3 side slots in the bracket and used hose clamps to attach it to my trolling motor. Works great till they get the shields shipped.
There will be days when the fishing is better than one's most optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.
