    Ice I think the elongated returns relate to the speed of .9 mph. Just a guess.

    Correct. The length of the return is sometimes due to boat speed. The slower, the more length they will be.

    Interesting; How do you distinguish species? Different look at same speed? Instinct?

    With my other units, (HB, Lowrance, Garmin) I did not use the Si as much. Harder to see fish to the side. With the Raymarine I do like the way the fish "pop". I have it on the bow (transducer on transom) and it gives good usable fishing info even when barely moving.
