Default HDS 9 Gen 3 or Onix 8 SI

Assuming you have the funds to purchase one of these, what would be your choice and why? Looking for pros and cons. I do both crappie and striper fishing on freshwater impoundments. Sometimes fish shallow. Sometimes fish in 100 ft of water. Should I also look at other units in this price range? Want SI and good 2D sonar and decent mapping. Thanks for any feedback. Not trying to start a Ford:Chevy war, just want to spend my $ wisely (may not be possible.....LOL).

Something to consider is whether you have any intentions or interest in I LINK, whether you currently have MK TM or MG, MK and HB go together, MG and Lowrance go together, well, to some extent they like each other. Sometimes they don't play well together.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I have been full circle and am back to Lowrance. I can use any of them. That's what counts anyway.

The Lowrance will network with your current unit via Ethernet if you're planning on keeping it.

I may be mistaking, but I thought I read that with the Onix you can select which species you're targeting for that time of year and the unit will point you in the right direction on the lake you're on. Does that hold true and does it actually work/help?
You think I like to duck hunt? I love to crappie fish!

I think you may also need Lake Masters so SmartStrike has all the lake data available to make decisions, in my case a majority of the lakes I fish are not even on Lake Masters and they are popular lakes, so SmartStrike would not provide me much help. I have been running the Onix 10 for over a year but have only really used probably a total of 100 hrs or less.
