Did you restore defaults?

Less than a year old pair of 998hd with GPS heading puck right above TM transducer and the puck you get with the unit mounted on back. All was well until 2 trips ago when I couldn't get GPS or Navionics. I called HB and they gave me a step by step procedure (that I wrote down). Tried that still no go. When I get to the graph that shows what is and isn't connected, everything but temp shows as being unconnected. Where do I look?
Thanks in advance

Yes. The directions from HB: Menu 2 times, right arrow to set up, down arrow to restore defaults, right arrow 2 times, then menu 2 times, right arrow to chart, down to chart level detail, verify it says all, down arrow to spot sounding, verify it says visible, exit 2 times, put map card in.
BIG FAT ZERO! nadda
Are these 2 units connected by Ethernet ... ??
Are both units having the same issue ... ??

Yes Rickie Ethernet connected. It's not working on either unit. I always use the locator with cards at console, but even tried switching them. Same results
Disconnect the Ethernet and try each unit as a stand alone with its own GPS puck (to eliminate some testing variables) ...

Weird!! I checked out Crappiepappa's FF's this weekend, the weirdest thing I have seen.
998 up front with an HS puck, 998 at the back with a GPS puck non HS. Ethernet cable hooking the 2 units together. Has worked for Months no problem. Tried everything I could think of, disconnected the ethernet... restore defaults... checked to make sure the views were visible. In my mind it was next to impossible for the 2 gps pucks to have gone out at the same time. Couldn't get either of the GPS to show active or connected, Under the network source setup it said fix unknown? We were out on a huge parking lot, clear view of the sky.
However, I dropped off a spare non hs puck I had and he tested it yesterday, it all worked!? WTHeck? Can anyone think of something logical to explain this? How can 2 gps pucks that are less than a year old go bad, (and they are 2 different model pucks, hs and non hs)

I can't imagine 2 separate pucks going out at the same time ...
Did the borrowed puck work on both units separately ...??
Did we happen to try plugging the front puck into the console unit ... And try plugging the rear puck into the bow unit ... ??

UPDATE:
Took the non hs puck Redge brought by and with the Ethernet unhooked plugged it to my console unit, brought it up, restored default and viola! both GPS and Navionics up and running. Then hooked it to my front unit, brought it up reset default, AHAA! both operating. with front unit running re-connected Ethernet on console and booted it up. Now It's working the way it has since installed.
Here's whats weird. before this test it didn't matter which unit was hooked up to which puck I would not get GPS or Navionics.
Called HB cust. service and spent 45 minutes telling them that I have eliminated everything down to the pucks. So, I have to send them in to be looked at. They want to charge me 150 service fee because I told them that I probably couldn't get my hands on my receipt! Called Brian at BBGMarine, where I bought the units and Brian still had my receipt!!!!![]()
FYI, they didn't like it too well when I told them that I have already looked at the pucks, found them to be inoperable by my test standards and would then bill them for 180 bucks to cover the cost of shipping.
To be continued.........
I have a 898Hd with a heading sensor GPS puck loaded with the latest software do the same thing today. This morning when I turned on the unit I noticed a pop up that said GPS source not found, didn't think much of it. As I was fishing noticed that when trying to navigate it seemed harder than usual and got the doughnut a lot. To make a long story short the heading sensor puck wasn't recognized by the unit so it was using the puck on the 1198. I reset defaults, turned the unit off and on several times, checked all connections, after several tries everything started working again, until then it said everything was unconnected but temp. Not sure what fixed it. What software version are you using?
