    Default Trasducer exchange

Have a new 959 HD DI unit coming in this week. Going to exchange the standard traducer for a trolling motor transducer. Looks like I have two choices. The XTM 9 DI 25 T or the XTM 9 Wide 20 T. The differences seem to be in the frequencies and the beam width. I fish mostly shallow water, less the 50'. What would the differences be using different frequencies on DI and what gives the clear view?

XTM 9 DI 25 T Down Imaging/Dual Beam Plus, 75'/45', 455/800 kHz (DI) and 25'/16', 200/455kHz. Specs match standard transom transducer.

    XTM 9 Wide 20 T Down Imaging/Dual Beam Plus, 75'/45', 455/800 kHz (DI) and 20'/60', 200/83kHz

    Any input would be appreciated.

The 83kHz 60° 2d beam of the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T is going to give you way more water column/bottom coverage under your boat ...

For every 1ft of water depth = 1ft of bottom coverage ...

Definitely get the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T for shallower water fishing to have more bottom coverage ...

Not only does it make keeping a brush pile in your sonar beam more efficient ... It will show more fish ...

The XTM 9 DI 25 T would have a slight advantage in echo target separation because of the narrower higher frequency 200kHz/455kHz 2d beams... (Like distinguishing bottom hugging fish from the bottom)...

But at the expense of not covering as much bottom as the wider 60° 83kHz 2d beam ...

Thanks. I have followed your posts and replies to questions. You are a wealth of knowledge. I like that 1/1 ratio of the wide.
