Humminbird, will exchange the transducer to a HD transducer. Costs around $95.
Question. Is There a real difference? What can I expect?

So with the HD transducer can I switch from 455kHz to 800kHZ with the push of a button?
Thats what I was asking. Thats awesome! Im going to have to do this!
Rickie, Thanks for sharing. What is the range of the 800 kHz ? In your opinion, is trading for the HD a good move?
It is a good move in my opinion......Even if you don't use the 800khz, the 455khz will be sharper. If you really want to analyze some structure......setting to a lower range and looking at it with 800Khz from different angles is a good way to do that.

SI Range (in either 455kHz or 800kHz) will be mostly dependent on the bottom composition being scanned ...
A soft mud bottom doesn't reflect as much sound as a hard gravel bottom ...
You may get good bright returns in 800kHz on gravel up to 100 or more feet ... Where a a soft mud bottom may only get Range out to 50-60 feet ...
This is where the SI Enhance window can help by having the SI Sensitivity instantly accessible to change the brightness of the image as the bottom composition changes ...
I had to crank the SI Sensitivity to 19 to even get 65ft on this mud bottom ...(at 800kHz)...

Rickie, Do you have a picture of the HD transducer? Will it fit in my 899 transducer bracket?
You must change brackets too.
