Default Rainy day ride-along with the Raymarine prostaff ...

Myself and a couple of friends had the opportunity today to spend some time in the boat with the local Raymarine prostaff for the Ky Lake area Kevin McMannus ... (I hope I spelled his name correctly)...

I was very interested in seeing with my own eyes the new Raymarine CHIRP Sidevision/Downvision/2d offerings ...

CHIRP 2d has been around for a while ... Albeit mostly in the salt water market ...

CHIRP Sidevision/Downvision is relatively new and still basically not very widely dispersed into the fishing market ...

It was a rainy day from the time that we met Kevin at Kenlake Marina until the time we left a couple of very wet hours later ...

Thank goodness for rain suits ...!!!

    Anyway ...

On the bow and the console Kevin has the Raymarine e series Hybrid touch 12 MFDs (model number I can't be certain ... It was too rainy to take camera pix or write notes) ...

Also on the console Kevin has the Raymarine a series Touch 9 with internal CHIRP/tone burst sounder...

Under the dash is mounted the Raymarine CP200 CHIRP Sidevision sounder ...

On the transom is mounted the Raymarine Downvision/2d CPT100 CHIRP xducer and the separate CPT200 Sidevision CHIRP xducer ... (He also has a regular 2d shoot thru (tone burst) in the bilge for high speed readings)...

Here is the CPT200 Sidevision xducer ... The left and right piezoe's are in their own separate adjustable housing ... (Looks like 2 black hotdogs mounted to a transom bracket ... Lol)...

All of this hardware is networked together to get get just about any combination of tone burst and CHIRP in Sidevision, Downvision, and 2d on any of the 3 displays ...

I took my own micro SD Card and made Kevin capture screen shots so that I could have easier access to post for you guys ...

All of these image were using CHIRP except the very last 2d image ... I made Kevin set the 2d sonar to regular tone burst 200kHz fixed frequency to show the stark difference in how the fish arches are painted with 200kHz fixed frequency 2d (that we are all used to seeing) ... And the CHIRP sweep frequency 2d ...

Do I have an opinion on the new CHIRP Sidevision/Downvision ...??

Not yet ... It's still early in the technology of CHIRP imaging (non-2d)...

Garmin will be coming out with CHIRP imaging in January ...

Now if I can find a Garmin prostaff that will take me out to see their offerings ... I'd be a happy camper ...
