    Default C vs CI ????

What is the difference in Humminbird 999 units that have the "C" vs the "CI" designation? Also, is there a big difference between a 899 and 999 model ???

The CI designation normally indicates internal GPS. I think all the 999's have internal GPS, so there should not be a 999 c model.

The 999 comes with the HDSI transducer standard and has a larger screen. You can use the HDSI transducer on the 899, but you have to give HB a call before you open the hardware bag that comes with the unit.....They will trade if for an upgrade fee.

Biggest screen that fits your budget is the way to go.

OK, thanks. Does HDSI mean "high definition Side Imaging" ?? Is that a lot better than the standard transducer on the 899? Does it make for a more clear screen image?

Yes, it also makes the 899 capable of using 800Khz imaging which gives even better clarity......Even at 455 Khz, the HDSI transducer gives better clarity because of the longer crystals in the transducer.

I think the "c" only means color. The "i" means internal GPS.

    I think you are correct......but there shouldn't be a 999 c model....They should all be 999 ci....Probably just a typo mistake in an Ad.
