    Default Humminbird 999

I have 2 ?s. Does anyone have an idea what this is? And does anyone know of an problem with the 83khz on these units. I do a lot of vertical fishiing and when I have the 200khz on it shows the fish ID in orange like it is suppose to. But when I put the unit in 200khz and 83khz it only still shows the orange and not the blue. I know what you are thinking maybe they are not there. Well I go back ovAttachment 179963er the same spot with my 597 with it split screen on the 455khz and the 200khz and it shows both orange and blue fish ID

It has been suggested by HB to set the "Transducer Select" menu to "Dual Beam" when using the 2d to eliminate the 83kHz pixelation issue ...

The downside of this is ...No SI nor DI views will be available when the unit is set to "Dual Beam" ...

Thanks a lot Rickie for the input just one more thing. The way I fish is I get on the lake and I ride around at very slow speeds with full Si screen on set to about 50 to 80 feet depending on the depth of the water. Once I see something that I like I throw a waypoint on it. Then I will go to split screen with 2D and the map. At this point the SI is useless to me and if that is the case you are saying I can go into the menu and change the settings to dual beam. Correct me if I am wrong this should give me both 200 and 83 on the 2D screen. This is when I ride over the waypoint to look for fish still using the big engine if I do spot fish I throw out a marker and move to the front where my 597ci hd di is that has a dedicated DI beam and the 455 and 200 in 2D split screen mode. This is how I fish most of the time and if I can change to dual deam on my 999 this would help me more easily see if it is worth stopping to fish or not. Some people say why do you run your fish ID on. But when I found out that 99% of the time if it marks a fish the fish is there or has passed through your coverage are. Lowrance on the other had shows everything suspended in the water column as a fish icon. Thanks so much for all your help. I appreciate people like you and Gregg that help us less knowledgeable guys out.

Setting the "Transducer Select" menu to "Dual Beam" shuts off the SI transmitters ...

This, effectively turns the unit into a 2d Dual Beam chartplotter ...

The SI/DI views (and the settings dealing with SI/DI) will not be available with the "Transducer Select" menu set to "Dual Beam" ...

Try it and see if the 2d works better for you ...
