I watched the video on the HB website about updating the software. They used the SanDisk 2gb ultraii sdhc card. These are really hard to find. Will the 4gb SanDisk be ok?
Should work fine.
USAF Retired and fishing!
I agree with kickingback.
For the 798ci HD Si model unit you will be fine using the 4GB card.
For units with some really old software (less than 4.000 from way back in 2008 or earlier) they may need to use a smaller capacity memory card like a 2GB or smaller.
Thanks to everyone. I looked at the file size of the update and it was 2.6gb, so i used an 8gb SanDisk card and it loaded fine. Also bought a 16gb ultra for the recordings and i will check them out tomorrow.
I must be overlooking an update to the 798 SI on the site. What section is it in??
Look at that file size again there fishingman; that may have been 2.6KB not 2.6GB. We have not had a software update that large, so the smaller 2GB memory card would have worked for you (if you can still find one).
He's talking about the updates in his My Humminbird account or the Humminbird.com web site.
The last software update for the 798c Si models was 6.350
The last software update for the 798ci Si models was 6.300
The last software update for the 798ci HD Si models was 7.120
Yea, that was 2.6mb and not gb,quite a difference lol. Sorry for the confusion, and yes you are correct Greg about the updates. That's where they came from (my humminbird account) and the version is correct also.
I made three recordings and have been playing them back with Humviewer. Sometimes i can get the track to show up in Google Earth and sometimes not. I will keep on trying until i find the correct way to view them.
Thanks again for all the advise and help.
