    Default Sonar Quiz #16

Explain the significance of the light blue area indicated by the green arrow...

Why did the processor paint this "significant area" in the SI image like this ...??

Ok Rickie I'll give it a WAG. I'm going to say the barge is fractured there, it shows on the other side too. Maybe not .

Old mooring line off sunken barge. I see the top of a bollard at the end of line.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

The whole side of the barge is basically darker indicating a shadow except for this area. I would say it was something higher than the edge of the deck....buckling maybe?

RICKIE,THINK THE DUCER SIGNAL IS PARTLY PENETRATING LIKE A AREA WHERE IT CAN MAKE THE SIGNAL HIT GROUND AND COME BACK, KOSMO A SHADOW WHERE GROUND IS SLIGHTLY LOWER CAUSING A LIGHT SHADOW,WHEREAS IF IT HAD BEEN A DEEP HOLE WOULD BE NO PENETRATION AND WOULD HAVE BEEN DARKER

    I'm not sure kosmo...

I have a reasonable guess what caused the dark spot ... (which I will include in the answer to the quiz ...after more opportunity for discussion from you guys)...

Rickie I can see that the hull seems to be buckled on the left side just across from the return in the shadow. Could this have something to do with it?

kosmo I would say that is dug out bottom from where it was going down...just a guess though.
