Guys, I have (1) 998c SI mounted on my stick steer boat. I have a TS3 switch already installed and a SI ducer on stern and TM. I have now installed a 360 TM upfront.
With the new 360 mounted I don't feel I still need the SI, I do use 2D a lot to see my jig over brush with slit screen 2D/DI.
Question: Rotating the SI and adding a 2d .... plus the 360 would be a lot of stuff on the TM IMO. But if I wanted to improve the DI on the TM what would you suggest? Doug
Replace the HDSI xducer on the TM with the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T ....
This will give you a dedicated "down pointing" piezo and a 83kHz/200kHz 2d piezo in the same TM style xducer housing...(no extra 2d xducer and AS SIDB Y cable needed because the 2d piezo is included in the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T )...
Then the HB TS3 switch would allow you to choose to see SI from the transom mount HDSI....or "dedicated DI" from the TM mounted DI xducer..
Your 2d sonar views would look normal....and only dependent on which xducer the HB TS3 switch has selected...
Your SI views when selecting the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T would show as right SI normal - and left SI black (because of no data coming in thru the left SI channel)...
Then, as normal...turning on the 360 would disconnect the entire HB TS3 switch/HDSI/XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T setup...
I think this would be a dandy setup...

Genec......... XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 ....do you think that this might be your best option along with the TS3 switch ? Ive been looking on the internet and ive found the TS3 switch for about $65 and the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 FOR about $120
Rickie, thanks for your input. It looked like you have put in a lot of time testing these two setups. I truly would like better DI images, but with limited space adding a second unit is not practical. This sounds like a plan and easy to modify from my setup now. Looks like I need to order a XTM 9 WIDE DI 20. Doug
I agree with kosmo...
The XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T is a much simpler setup than dealing with the rotated HDSI xducer and an additional Dual Beam xducer...
The images are not that much better with the rotated HDSI....just somewhat better...
Just remember the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T is a TM style puck...and accommodations will have to be made mounting the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T in any other fashion than on a TM...
(Like maybe on da'ducer apparatus®)...

Thanks kosmo and rickie,i recond i will wait a little while, just paid for new lower unit in april then motor caught fire 2 days later, first was 1600 and second 3000 but insurance paid 2300,so i wait till i build up a little more money, again thanks, still planning on doing it later and will need to know where kosmo found those deals
Hey guys,i was just looking at a hb ts3 switch, was wondering how many prongs do it have and it just looks like a switch that converts power from one leg to opposite leg,may be 3 or 4 legs to switch?do you know how it works?
I DON'T SEE HOW THAT SWITCH WORKS,IT LOOK LIKE YOU SHOULD HAVE A PLACE TO PLUG DUCER IN AND ON OTHER SIDE A PLUG TO GO INTO 998 UNIT:dono
The HB HB TS3 switch has a "Line Thru" leg (for 1 xducer)..and a "Switch Thru" leg (for a second xducer)...and then 1 cable going to the head unit...
Basically the "Line Thru" is when the switch is not energized...(this leg can be used with no power to the HB TS3 switch at all)..
Then switching to 12v energized....it swaps the xducer cable wire channels to go thru the "Switch Thru" leg...
