Also everyones water is different. I have a small lake here that images are horrible with all the "stuff" in the water.

Thermoclines make it tough too.

Great shots,to my eyes kosmo's Onix give the best all around images of any unit out there. Hey Kosmo do you think the 1199 should give a little better SI over the Onix because the interference between the DI and SI?

I've tried running my onix with the di pinging off and I,but I still believe I get better overall si with my 998.in fairness to my onix,I do have the transducer on the trolling motor while my 998 transducer is mounted on the transom. This could be causing the slight difference.i can control boat speed and hold a straight line better with the outboard running

I havent recorded much but images look a lot better on my puter than on my unit.

So, back to my original post,
It appears the Onix has the best down image currently.

I have mine rigged out with an 1197 SI at the console for SI with a Lowrance mounted just below it for navigation of maps. At the bow I have an 1159 DI mounted to run my 360 and a Lowrance mounted beside it for maps. The countour maps are very important for staying in the right depth and following contours. I very rarely use a depth finder.
