    Default 998 questiins

    I just got A brand new 998. I had a 997 I saved all the waypoints to an SD card. And can't figure out how to load them on to my unit. I know their on there because I loaded them back onto the 997 after deleting them. Also what are some basic settings for my side and down imaging to use for the clearest shots. I have an aluminum boat and generally fish no deeper than 50 ft. Thanks guys

    If the 998 has older software ...power off the unit....insert SD Card ....power on unit...follow prompts...

    If the 998 has newer software...power on the unit...insert SD Card ...follow prompts...(brand new unit...I would think this procedure should work)...
    ___________

    Basic default settings are a good place to start with the unit...(you can restore defaults and get everthing to default)...

    Then change....:::

    *SI Range to 60-70ft left and right...(less Range in shallow water <5ft deep...maybe 30-40ft left and right)...
    *SI Sensitivity change to adjust brightness of image dependent on bottom composition (hard bottom will need lower SI Sensitivity...softer bottoms will need higher SI Sensitivity)...
    *SI Contrast 10-12...(higher will make fish echoes pop out but make the image grainy)...
    *Si Sharpness Off....(higher will make fish echoes pop out but make the image grainy)...
    *Color Pallete...choose a color that you can see well for the lighting condition of the day (sunny - I like Inverse or Green...cloudy - I like Inverse or Blue)...
    *Chart Speed ...match boat speed ...1mph = 1 Chart Speed, 2mph = 2 Chart Speed, etc

    Use the 4way cursor to stop the screen scroll and change different settings to see how that setting affects the image....
