First off,
Thanks for all the chirp help BUT THIZ IS MUCH BIGGER THAN CHIRP!
I face a possible decision.
Im retired military but work part time leaving me maximum freedom to fish when i wish.
My wife is retired military but works from home and makes good money.
My problem is I may have a full time job opportunity soon and need input on taking it or not.
You see I love to fish and garden and walk and do woodworking but this job thing is bothering me.
WHAT SHOULD I DO ????

Take the job if it's something you would enjoy doing. If you can't go into it without enjoying it and being satisfied at the end of the day forget it. I'm 66 and if I could find something I enjoyed I'd go back to work tomorrow.

I'm in the boat beside you. I'm retired Air Force, turning 54 next month wife is not retired but makes more than enough for us to live and save a fair amount as well. I just went back to work last week and was weighing same things you are. Decided I would go back until I turned 60, and save all the money I make in next six years so I can guarantee a nice final retirement.
I understand what you are saying. 55 here. Took some time off for nine months. I was working myself to death out here in the country from sun up to sun down. Went back to work. I like being able to buy anything I want, any time. Not ready for being on a budget.

at 54 you should have plenty time,if I like the job I would go back to work ,I am turning 70 soon ,work till 66 and enjoyed it but my kind of work went oversees and had to close, now I fish if I decide to which is often except summer
God Demonstrated his love for us.Romans 5:8
Are you mortgage and debt free? Then enjoy yourself as you have been doing. The last thing you want to do is go into retirement carrying a mortgage or other debt. I retired at 62 debt free and haven't looked back.
Work is a four letter word!! and time spent fishing doesn't count against the limited time we all have left while work can. As long as you can stay active (and it sounds like you do) and can afford the future (if the pols don't totally screw us) GO FISHING. I went at 56 (14 yrs ago) and now wished I had done it at 55.
