Default First class day with the new HDS 7 gen2 - need advice

I know I will spend many hours learning how to use this unit. I spent 5 hours on the lake today getting to know the unit, I think I learned a little but a ton more to learn.

I need advice on how to adjust the unit so some of the red will disappear. I don't understand the SI at all not even sure how to hold my head when looking at screen to know what side is what or what is the water column or what is the bottom...?

Any way, was able to get screen-shots saved and transferred to a SD card

In regards to SI, pretend you laying on the front deck with your head sticking off where the trolling motor is and your feet pointing to the big motor. Your face would be looking at the water, straight down. Visualize that first....

Now turn your head to the right or left and that's exactly how side imaging would look.

heres a pic that's decent to learn on with the trees & such.

In the first four images you have the down scan over lay turned on the 2d, the red, blue and yellow are 2d. If you want to view the down scan along with the side scan, press the pages key, arrow to "structure", then arrow down to "structure + Structure, hit enter.

On the side scan, the dark brown on either side of the white line is the water column. Everything on the left and right of the water column is bottom. The top, center of the side scan image is where the boat is. You may want to try it with the contrast turned down some. I like 65-72 most of the time.

I hate the overlay feature! I have yet to see a benefit with it.
