Need a little 1198 advice!!

I have a 1198 running 6.74 which is the latest update. Had the unit about 2 years.
Been having trouble with the unit locking up when marking a way point, it will just freeze, wait 10 minutes nothing, try the power button, nada. Restart unit and the first waypoint you mark it locks up.
I removed all waypoints, cleared tracks, formatted nav directory, and restored defaults.
Ran it fresh like this with no waypoints added. After marking 4 waypoints it started saying waypoint saved but didn't assign it a name and it didn't show up on the map. I restarted the unit and the same thing.

Any ideas what to try? I do have the current software, not sure if I can reload it over the same version or not?

Appreciate any input you can give me. I am probably overlooking something, but for the life of me can't think of what to try next.

It is not possible to reload the same version...(the unit recognises it's the same version)...

You can load another version...and then reload 6.740...

I'm kinda with Bob's thinking...I've only heard of this issue when the Screenshot feature is on but no SD Card in the slot...

I would load your original version...and then reload 6.740 again....

Well played with the FF after I caught my fish. Card in slot, snap shot off, it will mark a waypoint on the map. Card in slot snapshot on, when I hit mark it doesn't leave a waypoint on the map? Thinking of buying a new card, is there a max size limit?
Or any other ideas?

You could try to get your data off it and re-format it to see if that does any good.

Scandisk Extreme 32 Gig would be a good choice.

Thanks Bob! I am going to get a new card, actually at least 2 for each unit. I really appreciate everyone's input! Hopefully next weekend it will all work out.

Tried a new card, tried changing card slots, can't make a snap shot because it locks up the unit. Leave snap shot off and it works perfect, just no pretty pictures!
I am thinking of reloading software!!
Any input, before I do?
