Can the Lowrance Elite 4X DSI be used effectively on a trolling motor?

It can and has by many, only issue is the small screen. I ran the E 5 on the bow and it was fine and the two xducers on my 4 and 5 are the same. Getting a transducer shield / saver would be my suggestion due to the long narrow ducer and where the mount is off the top / front to reduce play. Over time you will see play in the setup and it degrades the seal gasket for the mount on the TM. Just removed mine for another setup and can show a px if you want of what I'm referring to.

Slabacks, Please do show a pic of the shield if its not to much trouble.I fish in some very shallow water lots of stumps and debris.Sounds like it would be very beneficial in the terrain I fish.

FE1 .... I still have a Elite 5 DSI & the tdx is mounted on the trolling motor. If your transducer is the "torpedo" shaped one, there's a cover shield mount that is used for trolling motor mounting.

    Here's a pic of mine :

And here's what they look like, by themselves :

You will have to pop the tdx "torpedo" element out of the drop down casing it comes in, but that's not a problem to do. Then it just slips into the TM mounting sleeve, and you band it to the motor casing (as shown in my pic).

CP Thanks for your help.If I'm understanding the dealer and Lowrance the unit is supposed to have the shield included with the package.

That's what I've been told, too. I purchased my unit from another member & the shield was included in the deal, but I didn't know (at that time) that it was included ... I originally thought it was purchased separately & just thrown in the deal.

If you have problems figuring out how to get the tdx out of the casing it comes in, hollar at me and I'll help you out.
