    Default 998 transducer install

I installed my new 998 HD today. I followed all of the directions on mounting the transducer and things went very smoothly with the overall install. There is movement between the transducer bracket and the transducer itself. The DVD that came with it said that a proper install will result in some movement, but this seems to be a little more than I expected. All washers were installed and there no extra parts left over when done. I guess I'm just looking for a little reassurance that everything is copesthetic. This is my first venture into SI and can't wait to get it on the water!!!

If the amount of play in the transducer bothers you; take the transducer and pivot arm out of the metal mounting bracket and gently bend in the side “ears” of the bracket. This will get rid of some of the play but it will also increase the force needed to kick the transducer upwards if you hit something.

As long as I find that it works when I get it on the water, I think I will leave it alone. I like the ability for it to kick up if necessary. I had just never seen a transducer with movement in it like that. If that has been designed into it and it works, then I'm good with it. Thanks y'all.

The kick up feature is there so it doesn't rip off if you hit something and cost you $250 for another transducer. You can tighten it up some like Greg said.
