There is no unit setting to do this automatically. Setting your unit’s Chart Speed to match the boat’s speed is fine as a starting point but some like it faster than this while others like it slower than this.

Is this possible on HB units? I always see to match chart speed to boat speed, and it seems that with a GPS built in, there should be an option to do this automagically. Thoughts?

Even that should be easy to program, with options like "GPS speed + 1", GPS speed - 2", etc; or a simple GPS speed plus a -10.0 to 10.0 parameter. I know I'd use it, sorta thought others would see usefulness in it as well.
I'd definitely use something like that if it were available....I know some of the mfg's watch this forum for ideas like this. Maybe some day your idea will be a reality
it should be a default setting and then you have the option to change it

I don't understand how this helps anything.could yell explain for me because i never run chart speed as slow as my boat speed.well almost never
I vary mine quite a bit. I wouldn't want the computer deciding for me.
I believe that the HB guru/pimp on the other website always recommends folks to start out this way.

That would mean the GPS on my 898 would have to function at slow speeds if this were viable. Love the idea though.
