Default SI on the trolling motor

I mounted the transom mount transducer for a hb 798ci hdsi on my terrova and I am having some problems with the picture. I am not sure if it is because of the turning or the ducer itself. Do others have the transom mount on the trolling motor and is the pic good? It sticks out away from the TM a little while the TM transducers do not. I am thinking I might have to spend the money to get the TM ducer to get the pics I want but wanted other opinions before I spent the money and went back through the install process. Thanks

I have a 798 transom mount on TM ,it should not be any different except being out farther is easier to bump into something, but the SI is not as good because of TM moving, I mainly use it for DI and 2d sonar

As long as your TM is pointed straight ahead & not being moved to either side, I don't see why the pics would be any less quality. However ... ANY slight movement of the TM is going to interfere with the SI screen image. Here's an example, but understand that this is from a DI unit & not a SI unit (but the principal & outcome would likely be the same) :

You'll notice that the left half of the screenshot is showing a cedar tree that I passed over. But, on the right half of the screen, the image is broken up & distorted. The reason it is, is because the top of the second tree that I was approaching, was visible to me & I turned the TM sharply to avoid running into the tree top.

I had just happened to look down at the screen, and saw that I had captured a good image of a cedar, and was preparing to push the buttons to get the screenshot ... when I noticed the next tree was right in my path. I had to zigzag to avoid the oncoming tree (& others in the vicinity), and wait until I had cleared those trees before taking the screenshot. That's why there's several disruption lines in the right half of the screenshot.

You would likely get similar results on your SI, with TM movement. But, if your TM is steady & you're still not getting good images, then I'd say your settings may need to be tweaked.

You may also be having the rf noise issue going on. Maybe you could put some pix up for these guys.....they are really good at diagnosing some issues

I didn't like the way the images were skewed by having an imaging xducer on my TM either ...so I designed a way to eliminate it...
