Lowrance HDS 7 and 7 Touch owners, chime in time

I'm trying to compare the down imaging quality of the Lowrance hds7's to the Humminbird 998c hdsi.
Sounds like the majority of bird owners are disappointed with the DI on their units.
So, is the extra long transducer and extra crystal dedicated for the DI on the Lowrances working well.
You guys happy?

Two HDS-8s and one HDS-7 along with a LSS-1 & 2. My advise is to buy the biggest screen you can afford. I have seen some good images from the elite 7, I have no personal experience with them.

I have the HDS 7 Touch. My HB597 has just as good a down image as my HDS does. $550 for my HB and $1800 for my touch and I can't tell the difference. I do like the bigger screen though on the HDS7.
