Yesterday was a busy day for working on projects. I had some DTM (direct to metal) PPG Industrial Urethane paint leftover from another project. Perfect material for coating the Aluminum Dash Panel for corrosion protection.

If you are looking for a DTM paint that can be mixed in colors this is the best I have found. Really great for steel boat trailers. I put 3 heavy coats on the Dash Panel so it will be ready to install when Bon Temp's brings his boat back over.

I had to cut 3 holes for the cabling. The 2 top holes are for his Fiber networking cables. The bottom is for Power & Transducer cables. The Quick Release Mount is just too close to the Dash Panel to use one hole.
It never ceases to amaze me how much silicone a installer or backyard boat works guy can put on a Engine to Transom union. This particular job I had to take pictures because to properly seal the Engine on P-Nut's boat all the old stuff must be cleaned off. I mean All of it. You must use a "Below the Waterline" grade of sealant and if the formulas are too different you may end up with a leak if trying to seal over the old stuff.

To get this engine bracket this clean took some time. My final treatment was with the adhesive remover I always use for residue removal. This engine is now ready to mount.

P-Nut is bringing his boat this afternoon for the engine swap. Knocking out the to do list.
P-Nut came over about noon with his little boat so we got right to the task of swapping the engines out.

First things first was removing the old engine. P-Nut is removing all the controls, wiring, and Battery cables.

So to try and keep as much air conditioning inside as possible we swapped the boat for the truck to load the old engine carefully while the boat was outside. Thick foam was used to support the engine keeping it off the Bed floor.

While doing the swap we are adding a Bob's Machine Shop Jackplate.

I use the Bobcat to move everything. It was a quick out and back in for the Boat. Back to Work.

While hooking up the replacement engine P-Nut realized his control was a "Push 703 Control" and we needed a "Pull" type control. I had one in the shop but we are waiting till tomorrow morning to swap them out. Wine consumption time was upon us.

When P-Nut installed the other engine years ago he used 5200 to seal. We worked for quite a while with razor blades to remove every scrap of dried adhesive before installing the Jackplate on the Transom. More tomorrow.
Nice setup. And yep, that wine will sneak up on ya, ask me how I know. Egg crate foam to baby the engine, geez! Works great though I'm sure.
I cut up a Temperpedic King mattress on my bandsaw years ago and have been using it to insulate the sides of my coolers in the truck bed lately. I carry about 300 pounds if ice with me to The Rez during summer. The foam slows the melt rate real good. The engine we removed is in very good shape so not scratching the cowl up sliding around in the truck bed was a good idea.Quote:
