Honestly, this is a good idea in general to drain the capacitors in the ECUs, and there have been a few cases where I wasn't able to reset a certain ECU configuration or DTC without touching battery terminals together to force the ECU to drain all energy and force a reset.Quote:

When the battery that came with it started going bad, and I had to jump start it, It would act stupid and try to die several times, when ever I had to come to a stop causing me to two foot the pedals, thankfully it's an automatic. I’m not sure if this is your case, although it might be that the ECM reset to stock tune when the battery got too low after years of learning how best to run under current conditions. The stock tune is based on ideal conditions from the factory and not after years of wear, worn, parts, carbon build-up, etc. After relearning in the 15-20 minutes, it smooths out. If you replace the battery (or just disconnect), causing an ECU reset, it’ll be interesting what the ECM does upon first start.Quote:

Back when I had a 2011 Nissan Quest, I still had to tweak some settings to smooth the idle at a stoplight in the later years using my work computer until my wife tried to burn up the engine (VQ35) and got rid of it, although my 2007 Titan (VK56) never really needed such tweaking.
