I like what you’ve done so far. If you haven’t painted it yet and you have some polyurethane around, thin it down some to be more of a sealer and let it raise the grain and harden. Once sanded after that it will be much smoother and less grabby. Our local ace hardware has a boatload of springs to choose from, yours might also. My tensioner has a fiber wing nut, never backs off. Might use a regular fiber nut til you can locate the right one. Extra cradles that are independent of the station are handy for rod support when you’re working close to the tip.,
Nice work
Thanks for the tip on the sealer Tim. Been busy between the floor and dr.'s appt.'s for my better half. Seems I get one good day on the floor and my knee acts up real bad for several.
I had a chat with my primary care's RN today. Let's suffice it to say, this DR. is fired. I will be back working on the jig by Friday. As bad as my knee hurts, I have to get my truck hood operational. The sooner the better. Sooner is early in the morning before the temp gets up too high.
But back on subject. I have the nylon wingnuts, and washers on both ends of the thread spools inside the metal washers. Springs I ordered from Amazon, 20 for $3.00 I think. That part is working good now. Yes your right on the extra supports, too. I'm making an additional 2 more. Then It will be ready I think. All tips and tricks are welcome.
Sounds like you are certainly a busy man
With momma's brain working 28hrs a day, and only me Laboring, I completely know how Cinderella felt before the Ball...But it keeps me out of trouble I would get into otherwise. At least she admits I deserve to go fishing for all my hard work. Now if I could find the time to go...
Between work and wife I have barely fished this year.
Totally understand the feeling Jack. My job is around the house and trying to keep The better half happy. Been laying off the bathroom for a couple days. First was because I needed to give the knee's a break, then yesterday was the first of my two monthly payday's, which meant several bills and shopping for groceries. Today, well, recovering from the miles walked trying to follow momma's shopping list, and not forget anything on it. Tomorrow it's back to the floor. I want the Bathroom and front hallway done by the 20th when she flies out to Pheonix, to see the Grandbabies again for a couple weeks. I want to be able to try out some new jig bodies I ordered up from snake River. They are a custom color I'm pretty sure will work. I'll show them as soon as I get them in. Supposed to be here Monday in the mail. Tracking had them in Kansas City, Ks earlier this evening so maybe they'll make it. If not Monday it will be Wednesday the soonest due to the 4th. At any rate, they'll be here while she's in Az.
Sounds like you will get a much needed break
