Bait bucket

I made this bait bucket out of an old jug I had. I got a small aerator for it as well. Question does it need to be insulated? Another thought I had was that I could drill small holes in it and tie it off to my kayak so the minnows would constantly be submerged and aerated. Thoughts?

No need for aeration if they are in the water. If it's above water I would insulate and aerate them and use a frozen small pop bottle of water to keep the water cool.
