I just placed an order from Armstrongs, 1,000 (young adults-1") for $20 delivered (2nd day). $17 for crickets and $3 shipping. Two Cents each beats the heck out of the local bait shops prices.
Spent this morning gathering materials and food for when they arrive, and ventilating the tub. Less than $20 for the tub and screen (which I have enough left-over for more) and $5 for food (at TSC). Need to hit the grocery store for some fruit and veggies.
I went the wood slat route (scrap 1/4" luan) as opposed to hot glue (though I did run a bead on the ends of the lower vents)

Just got an email from Armstrongs, they'll be here Wednesday.
Just got 'em and put them into their new home. They were ready for food and water, but only saw 2 dead ones, can't beat that.

:popcornVeeeerrrrrry innnnnteeerstin'. Them will be easy to transport in anyones motorhome.
Got a patient on that transporter yet? lol
Ha! Nope, I just did a little research (web search which led me mostly to pet (lizard) sites) and fount the totes and aquariums are most widely used. Naturally an aquarium wouldn't be good in my situation, so this seemed like the best choice, not to mention much lighter and easier to move around. I'll be recruiting several "volunteers" for the mornings fishing trip :fish
Depending on how this batch goes, I might consider an additional tub (or two) and try my hand at breeding/raising.
Just an FYI update, crickets are doing great, have only noticed a couple dead ones. I'm actually surprised at the amount of mash and fruit they can devour in 2 days. It's nice not having to make a trip to the bait shop for a spur-of-the-moment fishing trip.
Just another update, things couldn't be better in cricketland, all healthy as horses, and haven't seen but a couple dead ones (unless they're being cannibalized). Anyone who uses crickets on a regular basis should consider doing the same, it's sure nice to grab a couple of those paper towel tubes and shake 'em into a cricket cage when it's time to hit the water. :fish
