I have been keeping minnows at the house now for a while. Bought some rosey's with regular shiners this last time, had a higher mortality rate with the rosey's. Have not seen much if any difference in the catch ratio between the two.
Having good sucess keeping alive by using water from my pond (not chlorinated tap water) and an aquarium air pump. I change out water about evry three days, it builds up amonia and becomes toxic if you don't. Now that the weather and water has cooled I may go back to keeping them in a container in the pond. Having to do this because bait shops don't open early enough and there are not many around. Swaha Marina on Lake Greeson did not sell minnows last I checked, said they had not for years.
