Worm Box Questions

I actually doubt I am gonna do any setups for any of my red worms with more than maybe a handful of dirt at most. Large and shallow is gonna be the way I do most of it. I think I have found the perfect sized container for maximum production and space. 18x12x10 deep. Now if I can find the darn thing in a solid colored plastic. I might even go smaller, 14x10x7 deep. Maybe when it warms up I will go for something larger but not while I have to have them indoors. This gives me a good idea of how fast I can breed them anyway. That is if I can ever find the smaller ones. May have to go to 10 gallon just to find containers unless I start spray painting the sides of the clear ones I CAN find.

I am getting a spray bottle for watering my setups. This way the water is evenly dispersed over the newspaper and cardboard and I shouldn't have much runoff to make a mess.

This is what I use to water the worms. I think a spray bottle would take quite a long time
I just heated a needle in a pair of vise grips and made the small holes in a large plastic water bottle lid. Illinoisgiller

Bed is at 70% moisture level,PH is now 6.5,Temp is at 73 degrees,my new babies are getting ready to go fishing,I put a couple jigs in the bin to get them used to them,lol.

I got a flower pot with a large sprinkle head out of the shed,it works perfect,and yes,worms are ready to learn to fish,lol.They better have some babies fast.

Want a good grain recipe for your worms?Cheap and fattens them right up.You have everything in your pantry.2 cups of oatmeal,1 cup of corn meal,12 egg shells.Throw them all in a food processer or blender,or like me a bag and rolling pin.Turn it into a powder and sprinkle on top of your worm bed,and let them get fat.

Thanks shipahoy,I looked at all of them and figured out what was wrong with mine.Even though it is working good right now.In the spring it will be set up very differantly and a lot more cheaper.Anybody need some worms,lol.I found so much in the last month just reading.I figure by spring that I will have over 2500 african nightcrawlers,and 6.3 worms a week from every worm,every week,lol.Time for lots of fishing.
