I see a lot of guys that make hand tied jigs and was just wondering if there is anybody other than me that make soft plastic jig bodies.

Flatfish46 makes some nice ones.

I make my Chet Fly's (my version of the HalFly) and do some custom pouring for some bass buddies of mine. I picked up a couple of crappie bait molds the other day but haven't had a chance to do alot of playin' with them yet...lol. But all in due time....I am sure they will get their's lol....Good Fishin'...
I am all most ready to start dipping tubes ... Fishing and Grandsons Little League have kept me from getting it all set up ... I do a lot of Speckeled Trout , Red Fish and Bass Plastics as well.

Most of my pouring is for salwater swimbaits. Not enough time for ultra-lite stuff. Like tying the small stuff.
Yes, I pour solid head crappie tubes and a bait similar to the bobby garland slab slayer. Its alot of fun and very addicting, makes you feel good when you catch fish on them. I have a mold for 2" baits hope to have a mold soon for the 3" baits.
tryin to make some minnow imitations, using silver shinners and threadfin shad as the core to pour the mold around. maybe plaster of paris or epoxy for a 2-part mold with the belly open to fill it. using a tube jig lead head to pour on. thought about silicone or hot melt or?? for the body?
any pros and cons and info will help keep my mistakes down . thanks in advance fellers.
good fishin
I can't give you much advice on making your mold. Mine is an aluminum injection mold made in a machine shop. It makes 25 jigs each time. It is nice because once you have the plastic ready it takes about 30 seconds to make 25 jigs. We have caught a lot of fish on these jigs.
Words are nice descriptions but if you've never posted pics of your stuff putt em up gents!!!! Give us some eye candy

I make plastics and combo's I shoot 100-200 at a time.
I will get some pictures posted as soon as I can.
Here is some I have been messing with for dock shooting. The fat belly helps it skip very well

thanks, they are 1 9/16 give or take
As usual...GREAT WORK Keith
wow, those are great looking baits, and great colors too. I'll second the good work comment.
Awesome baits - great pours
I mess with soft plastics some. It's not as much fun as tying jigs and a lot more dangerous.
Go to Makiplastic.com and you will see some of the best soft plastics you will ever see.
Where did you get your aluminum mold and how much. Those bodies should be outlawed. Fish, watch out.
The satisfaction you must get from mfg, sharing with others and then catching fish.
Any chance that some day those that like to make their jigs could meet, trade idea's and fish?
Don't see why not!!!!!! I know a bunch of guys have a tackle making and fishing and BBQ weekend over at the Tackle Underground site.
