what you mean nobody buys hooks to pour your own jigs????
I'd say Matzuo sickles are popular, then again so are Daiichi aberdeen.

I like the over sized sickle hooks in the 32nd and 24th oz lead heads. like #1 and #2 hooks... I found a place that has the brass, black chrome and red sickle hooks in various different sizes avaeraging about $40-$50 per 1000 hooks.Quote:

one nice thing about Capt Hooks is that you can usually buy 100, 250, 500 or a thousand.
Now sickles are
Black chrome sickles up through size 1 are $5.50 per 100 even less for bronze.
1000 for $46.75 for black chrome
Red sickles are $50.58 per thousand, might cost a few dollars more but when your're ordering a lot it works out
When you're ordering hooks you need to make yourself a spreadsheet and if you don't have at LEAST 12 places while exploring costs you're doing it wrong.

I just got another order for sickle hooks from chuckanddeb.com Fast shipping #4 and #2 sickle bronze 3.57/100. Page 4 under jig hooks. I have bought a lot of hooks from these folks and they are honest and like I say fast shipping.
Is 35 to 40 dollars for 1000 red sickles #2,#4,#6 or#8 a good deal??

If you go to Capt Hooks and buy 1000 each of size 8, 6,4 and 2 you'll pay $202.30 Thats actually pretty darn cheap for 4000 hooks!!!! That includes free shippin cause you're over 200 bucks.

You can get them cheaper than that.There are two or three guys on cc that you can get a better price then Capt. Hooks. Try Grandpa bob,fishhunter and flatfish.Cabela's has 1000 bronze sickles for $25.99. $35-40.00 for red sickles is a good deal.
I use #4 for all my jigs1/32 and 1/16 except I use #2 on my 18 oz.
What do most of you size wise??
on 1/16th I use a size 4, 1/32nd Size 2, on any 1/8 always used a 1 but I've seen threads on here where some are pouring a 4 on a 1/8th for those times when they need a little faster sink rate.
I've said it before the biggest thing I like about pouring is trying different size's in different sized heads. There was also talk about using a sickle hook on a tiny tube head jig.
When I get pouring I'm gonna try it and see how they work.
