Matzuo vs. Do-it
Anyone else have trouble fitting a #6 sickle into a 1/32 roundhead w/collar&barb? It's as if Matzou came up short on the shank between the bend and the eye. Do-it specifies #6 (like duh) but dang if the Matzuo fits. So unless I got a bad mold or bad hooks, I'm gonna grind out the eye sockets. Any input before I commence to getting busy with my Dremel?

If I remember correct the guy I bought jig heads from when I started couldn't get the #6 Sickles in several different molds. Some worked fine for him while some like a 1/32 did not. I don't have that problem with Grousefly's jig heads as he seems to be able to get most any hook in any head size.

I've had the same problem from time to time. It's the hooks and not the mold.Whenever I have this problem I put these hooks aside and use them in my 1/64 or 1/80 mold.

Thank you guys" good to know for the beginners here like me...;)

I have the do-it mold without the collar and the hooks fit fine. I prefer the non-collar for tying jigs.

I can use the #6 in the pro series (1/32 no collar) think its the 101 - haven't tried them in a collared mold. Ditto JJJ.

Ok problem solved, Bill brought up the same question at

Looks exactly like the next step I was going to take.

I 've never had this problem with My 1/32 mold!

Heck, fixed the problem in minutes, poured some test shots, no problems.
I ground down a small junk drill bit tip till it was flat, mounted it in my press and used it like a milling machine, done in minutes. Nice flat cuts, didn't dig down into the mold. Now, why can't Do-it......... do it?

Yeah I know I just got the Horsehead mold no collar and the size 2 doesn't really like the 1/16th oz head but if you put them just right the mold closes tight I've got to pour abou 8 of them and see if they work right if not I might have to make the eye hole a litttle bit longer.
Yeah I wish Do-it would listen to all of us and make sure the Matzuo's would fit perfect, but it's kinda hard to blame them Mustad has been around a LONNNGGG time and has always supported DO-IT.

They use a pure carbon form in a elox machine that burns the shape into the metal Matzuo wasn't on the scene when Do-it started making molds the sickles are a little taller than mustads it would be rather costly to have a mold for every leg length but They could change their shape and put a slot instead of a dimple Maybe their gettin Money from Mustad for the fact their hooks fit exactly personally there inconsistent on weight until you set up to their 1/80 and out but then again their $100.00 bucks plus .

Well, like I said: The resolution was easy and fast.
