Crappie Folks are not so Uptight

A note of observation from an ole basser'

Since I've been crappie'n all of a year or so now, the one thing I've noticed is the willingness of Crappie fishemen and their better fishing, better halves to be helpful. I can tell you, in my younger days of bass tournament fishing, my cousin and I would actually laugh at how those bass dudes who would get all serious and as we called it; "tight faced" around a lake.
Yeah, I'd pull my Ranger all over God's green earth fishing tourneys and I fished 'em from South Carolina to Texas. One day, I realized that it wasn't fun anymore. Can you believe it? Fishing no longer fun? I sold out in 2000 and stayed away till 2007.
I bought a Tracker. Ran into a guy who fishes nothing but Crappie, he helped me out, got me hooked and I really enjoy fishing again.

Note to Wannabe - No violins please, just think of BCM's morning sunrise service and you'll get the picture.

Not many bassers will tell you what their catching them on,where there catching them and how their catching them, let alone give you some of the lures their catching them on if you dont have any that color or style. Yep, the ole crappie fisherman is a much friendlier fisherman for sure.

Have to agree. Not that crappie fishing is easier by no means but to me it seems so much more relaxing. I found myself getting real uptight bass fishing.

A couple guys I used to work with would hear that somebody was catching bass on a certain color worm. They would go to the 1 or 2 tackle shops around and buy up every one of that color so the other people couldn't get any.

Crappie Fisherman Can Be Tight Also, I Know Of A Man That Knocks His Fish In The Head With Pliers So They Dont Flop Around And Make Noise In The Ice Chest. Now Tell Me That Aint Tight Lipped!!

Couldn't agree more, and the guys on this board are absolutely top shelf. Nothing they wouldn't do for you to help you catch fish, except maybe tryin to wrangle cordinates out of WB.

Look, you gewflers (it's a new word I'm trying out this week) need to make up ya'lls mind on Crappie fishermen. Why just last week we were talking about how if you catch a fish, before you know it, you've got 12 boats on top of ya and two guys going through your tackle box. Now this week, we're all Panfishing Sister Theresas.

Ya'll make up your minds and let me know how it turns out.

My apologies, but all that helpful advice I spewed out earlier has got me all discombobulated.

It is getting closer to the end of crappie crazy season...thus all the kindness and nice speak.....

Trolling seems to be different. If you're still fishing, folks tend not to set up on top of you, or at least they shouldn't. Although I know some guys from Memphis who are crappie-nuts and they congregate around a pier or two at Horseshoe and hold court like you would not believe. Just sitting there cracking joke and catching fish in scholls under the docks. Fun Stuff to feel tha thump!

He's given me all of his along with all the one's he's stolen or been given off of everyone else. He GAVE me GPS coords for 4 lakes not just last week. He did tell me to keep it on the downlow though. (OOPS, SORRY BUD) he didn't want anyone to get mad at him and not tell him anything else. MAN, some great onfo on Sardis, Grenada, Wolf and Washington. I appreciate all that ya gave me bud. We've got a group heading out this weekend to hit a few of the lakes using that information you gave me labeled as TOP SECRET. That was one heck of a folder you sent me man. Labeled TOP SECRET and and everything, Looked real official. Kewl thing was it had each person listed that gave him the info so I know when someone posts something, I'll know exactly where to go. And MOST of the bass guys will run by where your fishing full speed within a few yards and never check up and never give any respect. The crappie fishermen by the way will slow down enough to talk and share info.

I agree crappie fishermen are a pretty good group and will share all kinds of info(to a point)I try to help out all i can. Dont give out gps cords. cause i dont use them things. Got one but i can find a spot faster with out it. But i have taken some newbies to some of my holes to get em started. They really appreciated that, but they didnt care for wearing that mask for 4 hrs.

Well that's nice to know Mr. Jim. And all this time my feelings have been hurt thinking you made me wear that bag cause you thought I was ugly. :)

Bassnomo, I too was a HEAVY bass fisherman at one time. Then my son wanted to start playing baseball and me to coach so I coached little league for 8 years instead of tournament fish. He has been on the high school team now for 2 years and I have taken up crappie for 75% of my fishing, 20 goes to bream and 5 still has to go to bass during the spawn and when they start schooling, that is just to fun!
