Last year i bought a Minn Kota p55v2 trolling motor and the thing i really don't like about it is when i go to store my TM back in its storage position I really have to pull on it to set it in its place.
Is this normal for this and do others have to do the same, to deploy it isn't bad just step down on the lever and its ready to go

no one else have a hard time with theirs
I had trouble with mine when I first bought it. But I picked up a few pointers on here that helped.
#1- Try putting some Armorall on the shaft. It helps slick it up and water does not take it off easily.
#2- Try this (The Cane Pole Technique). When you are ready to stow it, Make sure the head is pointing straight. Put the foot pedal/hand control (which ever you use) in the MOM position with the speed wide open. Push the lever on the TM that releases it and push down on the foot pedal at the same time. It will literally drive it self out of the water.. Works great!!!

I lube the cradle and both sides of the motor housing that contacts the cradle with Vaseline petroleum jelly. Water will not dilute Vaseline like other lubricants. I do this on occasion as it does wear off over time.

Another thing I'd recommend on the PDV2 is to put a strap or RAM mount to hold it in place when stowed. I've heard horror stories about them jumping off the cradle while pulling the boat. I have since put the velcro strap off my old MG on it to hold it tight. Better safe than sorry.
I recently had to replace the foot control circuit board after only two years. The TM just all of a sudden, in the middle of a tournament of course, stopped turning right. The board was relatively easy to change, and only $55 from a local TM repair shop. Much better than a whole new pedal. SO, if any of you PDV2 owners out there have this same issue, try that first. Just something to look out for. I'm told by that same repair fella that it's always been a common problem with the PDs. When I change again, I'm going back to cable steer. That turning motor noise annoys me.
I have heard things also about the board acting up. What I am using now does not have a circuit board that can go bad. Just switches and a rheostat that I feel is more dependable than a circuit board. I have the Minnkota also and one thing I had seen on here was to loosen the set screw and back that locking ring up a few turns. It gave more room between the ring and the motor housing and I do not have to pull/tug as hard to lock it in place. It also help with my finder wires not getting pinched as easy. Hope this helps
Well after a few times out after lubricating the cradle and shaft it works much easier, thanks all for the tips
That's interesting. I've never had any trouble at all pulling up and stowing my Minn Kota Power Drive V2, but it is a real chore to deploy it.
