Am planning a three day trip up to beaver lake in June, and have never been there or fished there. Could someone give me some information about the area around War Eagle. Is there any campsites close to the lake edge? Is this part of the lake good crappie and catfishing area. Any information you could help with would be appreciated. Have tried to find site information online without success.
Are you going to War Eagle park? The Corps park at War Eagle does not have any campsites on the water. You could go to Hickory Creek, which is about a 15 minute drive, and they have many sites on the water. These two parks are about 4 miles apart by water, but you have to drive around the rivers to get to them.
Check the Corps website. It is a big, clear, deep water lake that requires light line and (many times) a finese approach to everything. The lake is subject to dramatic fluctations in water levels. But have fun.

As far as fishing crappie I would suggest talking to JT Guide Service, never used him but he should be good and know the lake.
Can you tell me what happen to Jim Stancel, Lake Sport Boats in Clinton AR. after the tornado. Did he rebuilt or move to the islands.
I fish for crappie alot around War Eagle from June thru August. I fish at night around lighted docks. You stand and good chance of hooking into a walleye also.
Jim is not in Clinton at this time. He tried to work out a couple different options after the tornado, but nothing came together for him. Hated to see the boat factory go as it was a good small industry and they made good boats. I hear they are opening up a boat factory up in Mt. View and I also heard that Jim might be involved in that. This is just rumor so I dont know how much of it might be a fact.Quote:

They should be biting trolled Bandits by June, look for flat areas 20-30 feet deep - yeah a lake map would be a good idea - and as said above you may pick up walleye, bass, and white bass when trolling Bandits. I should have been out trolling myself by then, I'll try and remember to let you know if the Bandit bite is on if you are interested in trolling for them.
If you are just looking for a place to keep your boat at night without taking out, War Eagle is fine. The War Eagle Marina is located at War Eagle park, and Mike the owner will rent out a stall for a night at a time if needed. The gate is a combo lock, and there is relatively few problems with keeping you boat at the dock. But if you are wanting to camp next too the water, Hickory Creek is the place you want. There are alot of campers that just tie there boats up on the bank at night, so this should be fine. Hickory Creek is about 10 miles north of Hwy 412, and if you know the roads, it takes about 15 minutes to get there, otherwise you have to go thru Springdale, and it takes about 30 minutes. Both are nice places, and have nice campsites.

I live about 2 miles from the Hickory Creek park and marina. I lived here my whole life and I have never heard of anyone having problems gravel docking thier boat. The nice thing about HC is most the campsites overlook the water. Depending on which campsite you get and the lake level you'll be 50 feet or 50 yards from your boat.
When we night fish at War Eagle we use minnows.
As JT said, Firetiger is an excellent color. Shad, Mistake, bubblegum also work. Bandit 300 is the size you want.
Thanks again to everyone for the good info. We also plan on trying to catch a few flatheads while there. We like to fish fairly steep, rocky banks (large rocks if possible) using limb lines. Are there any areas like this around HC that would have limbs hanging out over the water? If not would appreciate any input you might have in reference of where and what method to fish. The HC area has all the rocks and bluffs you could desire, as far as habitat and geography goes there's something for everyone. I usually set troutlines in the Nelson holler cove. It's a large cove that has 3 branchs to it. In the back of the center one the water goes from 7 feet to 30. I set lines there and do pretty good. There is bluff line that runs right by the marina, I've never fished it, but it kinda loops to the the swiimming area and some friends of mine say that's the best place to catfish with a rod ane reel from the bank.
