D-Ray, did you catch them deep or shallow?
Way to go on the 2 nice ones. Did you catch them where you took the pic? I have not been up on the North end in a week or so. Lot's of brush down that bank if I got it right~
Thanks guys. Danny and I caught these jiggin in the buckbrush like in the background, up close to the bank. we saw several schools on the depth finder in deeper water, but couldnt get them to bite. we were using a 1/16th 0z. jig with a swimin minnow body, tried several colored tube jigs with no luck.
Man I love jigging them out of the shallow brush....Thanks for the pick and report.
Ill be up there soon, nice fish. CP
The water temp. was 60 at middlefork and 58 at hill creek. hopefully in the next few weeks the water will warm up a little more so the brush will be full of 'em:D
Good looking crappie, enjoy the catch and the eating. A good friend and fishing buddy and I fished out of Choctaw today (16th) and caught 20 nice ones. 12 of the twenty were 2 lb. plus. Wind was a little rough at times but if you could manage it you could catch some. Sorry did not get any pics. but it would have been an excellent string to show. Caught on tripple ripple jigs. Shallow and deep, one here and one there not bunched at all. Most were all female and eggs not ready yet. Need a few more days of warm weather. Not sure we need the rain that is forcasted.
Nice fish I was fishing the same area yesterday and they were slow for me, caught just a few later in the evening in deeper water.
D-Ray, good catch. I need to get up to Greers and learn it.
Picked up 18 on the 17th and 20 today. With the warm forcast for next week things should get exciting. It will be too wet to plow in the garden, so I think I will fish everyday next week. Dont you just love to put one of those big slabs in the live well. I would say fish the buck brush next week.:)
I would definately agree with Bucketmouth here, even on the south end. We picked up a few on Friday on a big flat in 4 - 6 foot of water with timber and brush on the bank. My client's where chasing those white bass and we stumbled up on a few slabs. I had done well with the papermouth's in this location before but had not seen any show up prior to Friday. There moving in and got love on there mind~
