Thanks to Illinoisgiller, I now have the correct size hackle for my bluegill getters! He was kind enough to mail me what I needed:) and tonight I put them to use. My colors are a bit crazy, but I like them! That saddle hackle makes all the difference. Thanks Giller. :D

yep, can't beat that Illinoisgiller, he has helped me with all kinds of stuff. If ya wanna see some cool micro's get him ta show ya the ones he makes with a solder head on a size 10 dry fly hook. If I was computer savvy I'd show ya a photo.

Check my post titled "more on micro's" to see the difference in neck hackle vs. saddle hackle. Been tying for years and just found out how to use the right feathers! You came to the right place.
Guys just make sure you tie in your saddle hackle with the curve facing back, unless you are looking for a forward facing hackle in place of the regular way of facing back.

If I remember right you need to tie in the bottom side against the hook so it automatically turns so the hackle lays back, right??
