Well I have given it a try twice in the past week...Worked for me and the bite picked up about 30 minutes after sunset.. I just turned on the running lights and kept on pulling.. The bite was right at the surface..
Has anyone else given it a try??

I tried it once last year when I forgot my light at the house.lol. I thought I would give it a try on the way back to the ramp and it worked pretty good for me. I plan on trying it more this year
No Can't say I have ever tried. But I will for sure be giving it a shot. They gotta eat and who says you can only catch-em in the day time trollin. If you know where your at and know where most snags are and can light up your rod tips somewhat you will be ok..
I have a light i put on the back of my seat that is above my head. I can see all my poles and the corks. Since the bite is on top i think i might use some glow corks for behind the boat but if you can see the tips ya don't need to see the corks...
A light just brings the fish to us.. They are feeding...I plan to try this on the next full moon..and this thursday night...I hope to get foulhook to do it too but after fishing all day he might need his rest..lololol
Glo Jigs ?
i use this light more than the light above my head..best headlight i ever owned besides a coal miners wheatlight for coon hunting. those are too pricey and the battery is heavy
this little light is 20 bucks at wallyworld..you can see the bank 40yds away with the spot..

I have one of these for each side of the boat.. that will make the lines shine for reeling in those that try to cross lines

yep got some glow jigs too....some from crappieday and a few glow spoons left..
Hey Keith, is it possible to mix up different color glow jigs?
Keep on giving us feedback on night trolling as each of you try it. I have thought about it but keep thinking of the touble you can run into - tangled lines, underwater brush, not being able to see well. I woul like to hear more as each of you give feedback. Thanks.
The times you did troll at night. Did you catch more in deeper water? I know it always seems we catch more at night in deep water. But are they shallow too.. Man you have made me seriously consider this!!
Works good doesn't it Smitty.
Does it work better on a full moon.
That full moon is surely when I will be tryin it first...I like to be able to see. I have spent enough dark nights on the coast castin for shrimp!!
I am all for that. I dont think that i can fish all day and all night . That will have to be just an all nighter. I am going to rig the BABB for Night fishing, and dropping condos. We have talked about that long enough. Its time to get er done. All day and all night, I dont think so.
ok i'll get the condos built...if ya have any buckets bring them thursday..
I'll get a load of boo cut and have the big trailer loaded with deep water condos next week...or you can come help me....or we can do them on the river at that guys house...
i have trips booked for 14,15,16 but we can still drop some boo some kind of a way
I have caught alot of fish trolling at night, but I got to where I just dont do it as much anymore. # 1 is I am usually tired and hungry by dark and since Talquin is where I do most of my fishing, heck, it hard enough keeping bugs on in the daytime there!!! I have never tried the glow worms tho. I used to fish dock lights at Sinclair and Blackshear in the 80's and I would troll from dock to dock with some success.
I have some buckets, and BOO KOO on order. something like 50 or more. i will bring what i have on Thursday. I will help with the bamboo. I have numerous places to harvest the BOO. I can get the really big stuff. I guess we will have to eat at I Hop on your side unless you have a better idea.
Tue 78 wed 75 and thu 80 The weather looks good for next week. JusFshn thinks that we are just BS n.I know if I am talking about I HOP you will show for sure. I cant fish all day on a Mickey D biscuit.
We were fishing on Lake Weiss this weekend and anchored down on our honey hole just off deep water and onto flats. There were two boats came by us trolling at night. They were long lining jigs on the flats and they were catching them at a pretty good pace. We asked the one guy if he was using minnows or jigs and he said they troll with jigs. I think we might give that night time troll a chance. Of course we were burning them up too, as was most everyone else this weekend.
smitty anyone catchin any at west point ,
plan on going for a couple days thursday?
Works I guess if you have some light, but I imagine untangling lines can be a pain, just hotta hope you don't run into a striper.
Red fern, three of us went in my boat last Thursday to West Point and caught over 300, kept 65. Pulled single 1/32 and single 1:16.
Earl told you right. Fish are on everywhere it seems. Funny I was talking about night trolling today. This is an old thread 2009. I have beentrying to get someone to go with me night fishing for 2 days. Family doesn't want me to go alone. I've done it all my life. I'm going in the next few nights either way.
Just noticed my cell is not FalconSmitty.
All fun n games till a big hybe or stripe hit one goin left to right at mock 7!! ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZIIIINNGG!!!!!pop :(
Yes sir! been doin it for 8yrs on a local lake and 3 at Oconee. the color of your cork does matter. green head black body chart, green tail will getem. and yes if you get hung up it can be a booger sometimes. like you said, about 20 min. before dark get your pattern down, strap on a head light and roll with it. stripes and hybrids will drive you insane if you run to fast. hobby lobby has little bells I bought. just clipem on about two foot down from the tip and letem sing to ya! jingle jingle jingle,,,,,,,,,ope! there eeeeee izzzzzzz! he guys it really work. comftorble to, no dad gum water cycles either
