I have plans to visit Old Town Lake on Friday and Saturday. Does anyone have anything they could report? I plan on running plenty of yo-yos. Preferrably Crappie rather than Catfish.

Not to say they will be jumping in the boat when you go but had a friend come home over the weekend with a cooler full of meat, crappie and cat.
Some friends of mine went over there about a month ago and had a two day total of 140 something Crappie. They were all caught on yo-yos.
I have no report other than I can report that I will be there this weekend trying them :p
I would love to go, but turkey season starts Saturday, and I'll be pretty much out of commission until I either kill 2 turkeys or the season ends, and I nearly never seem to kill my turkeys early in the season, usually the last 2 days. Hope you catch a bunch.
they were slow last week and then the cold front moved through and really slowed em down. Hopin that by the weekend, that they will be biting. We're goin down early next week. Cant wait!~ Let us know how you did will ya?
Fished Old Town Saturday. I knew something was up when we got to the ramp at around 9:00 and there were only 2 trailers at the ramp. Fishing stunk Saturday.Only 6 or 7 "keepable" fish. It was a pretty day though.
so, did anybody fish there today? Before the rain moved in?
Turkeys left a lot to be desired Sat. Sun. was pretty exciting, but we didn't kill any.
The catfish were biting really good on Saturday. Caught 20 2+ pounders within 4 hours. Also caught 9 crappie keepers. 1 of the crappie was really nice. I caught 10 really small crappie and chunked them back. I sure wish I could find the crappie at the right time.
go in february
Very few crappie on yo-yos. Catfish are good. If you fish, you gotta keep moving, they seem to be congregated around certain trees, and if you find it, hold on, and bring an extra cooler. We fished all day caught 5 early, then 10 more around 1, and another 35 before dark. Several over a pound, 7 over 2. But we definitely had to work for them.
