That looks great Skip! Good color combo.
Great looking bug. I've tied flies using body weave, don't know if I can remember how to do it or not, been a few years. I do recall that at the time I had too many thumbs.
Skip, that is one of the best jigs I've seen. That should be a great dock shooter. Way to go!
Looks awesome, now if you need someone to try out the new jig to see if it works.....
Brad
I could field test some of those here in N. Ga.
Nice as usual

Thank you all for the kind comments!
Ragfly how have you been? Hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

it's got slab written all over it skip!!
I've done that! Its origin is from the Polish Nymph. I have an entire video on it. Neat stuff.
Hey I want 5 of each color!!! if you will sell them...
If you want stripes, take two peices of chenille and twist into one, then wrap the jig. If you do it right, you come out with different colored lines. You can make the straight lines, or lines that have a slight curve around the body.
Since I don't sell any jigs, I stopped the fancy pants eye candy tying many years ago. I tie for what's hot for the time, and as simple as can be.
The speacialty jigs come into play when tying for those extremely finicky fish like trout and salmon.
Years ago, I used to tie a 3/8 oz hair jig for Catfish. They worked extremely well, especially if you soaked them in some liver or shad guts.
Good lookin tie up there Skip!
I just tie what makes me happy and what also teaches me something new. I like doing the more difficult things as it keeps it fresh. I think if I only tied regular jigs I would quit.
As for twisting the chenille, done that I prefer variegated colors for that, but to each his or her own.
Mostly I use the variegated, but like this weave and want to do more different ones as well.

That's a graet looking jig.
Where did you learn how to do the weave?
Ditto on the above post. Anyone have any links of videos or tutorials of doing a pattern like this or similar weaves? By the way, Great job Skip.
This may help... Woven Polish Nymph Tutorial
Look good.
awesome looking jig
Looks good I like it !
Great looking jig. May I try to copy it?
Good looking jig Skip. I love those colors.
Another page that might help, although still not exactlly like Skips...

Thanks guys, but notice this thread was started in April 2009, LOL!
It is a Bitch Tiger Weave just like the link from oldfox and I just adjust for a jig as I do on lots of fly patterns.
Have fun and hope it don't bend you mind too much, LOL!

Nate I gave everyone that ask a link to that pattern and griped about how long it took me to just follow the directions without being frustrated and quit trying several times. Never said I dreamed it up. Hard to dream up stuff that fly tyers have not already done at some point. I bet I linked that pattern 20 times when people ask.
Now even on this thread if you had read it you would have seen this post by me....
Didn't know the origin, but had seen it in fly patterns and liked the effect. I hope to learn a few other weaves for different looks too. I got the recipe from FAOL.
I do agree it's neat stuff!
Also here is the link and it's not polish, LOL!

PS plus I know at least 100 times I tell you guys to look at Al Campbell's fly tying stuff on this site.
My hat is off to you Skip. That is another AWESOME job, like all your work. I have been a fan of your work for a long time and maybe one day my work will be comparable. I have called Skip several times with questions and he has always given me straight up advice. Thanks once again for sharing your knowledge.
That color combo is one of my change ups over here. The weave lloks great. I've been tying with some of the maribou I got from you a while back, much better feathers than I'm used to working with. It's going into what is basically a popeye jig pattern, but with boo instead of a small hackle feather. Someone's going to like em and take em home, I'm sure. I'll shoot a pic when they're all done for all to see. Thanks for all you do for us rookies, Skip.
Thanks for the props guys I just do what I can. Don't get to spend as much time as once here on this board, but it's because I am tying and can't seem to catch up. Every time I get kind of close something happens just like this last week. I am not complaining mind you, but my youngest son that just had his shoulder rebuilt a few weeks ago and he calls saying he's coming to visit so when he gets here I sure can't tie like I need to, I spend time with him and watch 3-4 days just slip by, LOL!
You guys are all most welcome!
Thanks guys and any time just ask,
Skip
Love it Skip. Black and chartreuse is a very hot color combo.
That's a great looking jig Skip. Better tie a bunch of those cause the crappie are gonna eat em up.
Remember this jig from when I researched. Still neat and fun to look at, skip.
You can create those same nymphs in jig form with craft yarn and zonkers, get that bumpy abdomen plus the woven look. A guy that used to post around here does it.
I think it looks great, but feel like I'm crocheting and as far as jigs go, doubt it'd ever make a fish's eye twitch any more than a simple twist. It takes an extra second of patience, gets easier every time.........but still takes too long when you're just tying to fish and I haven't seen a diff. yet.
If I ever tie more than I fish, I may put some xtra effort into prettiness.
Enjoy the grandson.
How old?
Adam
You have set the standard-AGIN! Very, very nice.
Here are a couple I tied after reading this thread. I love this concept and am going wild thinking about getting to try these out.
Tell me breifly how U body weave. That looks really good to me.
