I haven't really been lately. Last week (Spring Break): I threw a fly in the Lower Mountain Fork River and didn't get a bite. I threw jig in Lake Murray on the way back from Dallas and didn't get a bite. But I probably only fished for a couple hours total. I was wondering if that warm rain we got yesterday will trigger a bite... or was it even a warm rain?
well i fished sat and sunday guys and was able to pull out 16 good keepers on sat and only 10 on sun. i think i like the rain better than the sun! haha. i keep hearing that they are catching em on the banks, but i had no luck with that myself. pretty much all the fish i caught were in about 8 ft of water or so.
I'm fishing too shallow and all 3 days I was bank fishing. I'll fire up my boat this evening and try it again, in deeper water. If I don't have any luck this evening, I will be standing at the turn-off into the Wal-Mart store in Checotah on Thursday holding a sign that says; "Will work for Crappie filets"
My dad told me several guys from his work went and fished Cross Timbers Marina at Skiatook on Sunday and brought in a load of nice crappie. They were fishing minnows 8 ft deep in and out of the slips. I don't know if you have to own a slip to get out there or not but I know 3 people that own slips out there so I plan on getting out there to try it within the next couple of days.
I couldn't get them to hit minnows last week, it was all jigs. Everyone I spoke with yesterday fishing were using minnows, so I guess I will switch back to minnows for the time being. Thanks for the report.
stinkfinger i went down south of eufaula on friday and had 32 from the bank. came back sunday and had 21 from the bank. the morning and late evening bite has been the key from the bank. stopped up north sunday before heading south and had zero.
Hey guru, caught anymore since last weekend? That was a good report.
maybe i too should try the minnow thing, all i ever use is jigs! hope to be able to get back down there on my next days off, tues and wed of next week. you guys keep the good reports coming so i will know what and where to try next! thanks!!!
Well, I'm not a very good fisherman, unless being hard-headed counts. If there are 15 people fishing around me, they will catch fish and I will get mad........ hahahaha. Oh well, its still fun. And occasionally I get lucky and find some dumb fish......some really dumb fish, and he takes a bite out of my hook and lands himself in my boat. I'm still not sure how this happens.
Stink, I went yesterday, Wensday, and caught only two small bass. The guys fishing the marina are not doing any good either.
Well you know, they say misery loves company, but not really, not among us. I'd like to hear that you guys are catching them whether I am or not. The only consulation in not being alone is that its not just me or something I'm doing wrong.
I fished among some large trees on the southeast end of eufaula for around two hours and never got a bite. But I did have a 5lb cat on my jug-line when I got back into the cove where I live.
I figure with a few more days of warm weather, they'll fall back into pattern and we'll all have better reports. Anyway, good luck to all.:)
same to you stinkfinger, Thanks. I am ready to get after some shallow crappie with a jig and cork
Been a week now since I caught a fish. Went three times last week and not a bite. I sure wanted to go today but had things to do. If tomorrow is as nice I'm going. Looks like that weather put the stop on all of us.
Sure alot of post missing, Ed must of had some problems to iron out.
I fished yesterday, blocker area....the water coole way down....57 main lake...48 way up the creeks.....only caught 5...but they were nice....1 on a jig, 1 on a roadrunner....3 on minnows....anywhere from 3 to 12' deep....
Went this morning 10:30 before front rolled in only caught 1 but it was another dandy 14" white.
How deep and what was the water temp??
2' below a cork & I dont know the temp, didnt get my feet wet.:p
