Heard today from a buddy of mine they were catchin em spider riggin the face of the dam.
Also heard its gonna rain and get cold. Good luck!
Hope you get into them Camocatcher. I'm headed down there on April 1st for a few days. Good luck. Let us know how you do.

Just got back home caught about 10 the whole trip but some good ones weather not the best with strong winds sat. couldnt get out much. Still had alot of fun
Hey Camo you got a PM.
Don't forget to see what's goin' on below the dam! I dunno what's goin' on there now but is always to drive down there and check out the action. Last year the fish cops busted two local idiots with 150 crappie!
Call Jack's Isle and see what they think.. I'd bet they are hot around the cypress trees right about now.

We went below the dam sat. caught some white bass but seen someone catch a couple crappie. When the wind blows 30mph its hard to catch anything. We did see a 12.23# bass weighed in on sat and another 11.50#er so maybe they are biteing better than the crappie
Okay Landing--Crappie is great--Today wind was very brisk 15-25 miles an hour. I caught close to my limit 17 nice ones early in the morning 8-12 pm. Left about 1pm. Crappie is in the shallows and I do mean shallow--I caught mine in 12-18 inches of water. Most all over a pound or more. Photos later---This cold front may shut them down---have too see.---Jim:)
hey guys im from the Mo board, we just got back from Millwood didnt catch too many, but had a great time . It was my first time to Millwood and I love the lake and the crappie are pigs.Just wondering if the spawn had all ready hit, down there some said yes and some said no.Water temps back in McGuires lake was around 59-62 degrees.
Sounds like you should have tried shallow water around okay landing. Did you go with the boys from Sedalia?
Sure did you know them, really dont know the lake just followed them around.
The key to fishing Millwood is to know the lake and the water depths. McQuire and Horseshoe are deep water oxbows, but they do have some shallow water. The crappie are spawning in the shallows of the main lake in the sunny spots around the trees and brush.----Jim
We sure could have used that info this weekend, but the main lake was pretty choppy and muddy, like I said really dont know the lake,it was a great time though, lots of beer got drank I do know that and man when you do catch one its a pig.I am sure we'll be back.I'll post a thread then maybe one of you all that actually know whats going on there will help us.
I escorted some guys around from Paris Texas, but they came down during a bad rainy weekend. I gave them my opinions and showed them the lake that I fish and they went fishing--I do not know what they caught if any at all.
Millwood is a large lake and covers a lot of land, and several small oxbow lakes that are part of the lake system or the river system. The oxbows on the river, it is best to know their location or you will never find them, especially McQuire lake, Mud Lake you must leave the river and follow a creek to access the lakes.
It is probably 75- 100 miles around the lake if you visit every landing. Need any help just holler
Thanks crappierookie, if that is your real name, lol, sure sounds like you know what you are talking about.I'll shoot you a PM next time Thanks agian, anytime you decide to come to Mo (Lake of the Ozarks)do the same.
They are some good guys and they like to party a little too
Great guys do anyting for you,and yes they do party but just a bit lol
Sounds like I picked the wrong weekend to go chasing turkeys in west texas!
If I would have known about the party and all the catching I may have stayed at home. I've been catching several around okay landing past few weeks myself, sounds like the action is realy heating up.
Thanks for the reports, let somebody know next time before you drive all the way down from MO.
Belive me I will next time. How did the turkey huntin go?I am headed to Kansas tomorrow and then Nebraska to guide.Looking foward to huntin them rios and merrims.
The turkey hunt went great. Only allowed two on the ranch we hunted, and I got both of mine the first day. My first rios, and got to meet some of the guys from Mossy Oak. Texas is like Kansas just full of turkeys.
Better get back to the crappie fishing now.
I love Millwoood ;we have always done well when we go!!
