Thought about going there Wednesday. Anyone have any news from there? It's a shallow lake, so it's no telling where the crappie will be.

While I am at it. Bayou Bartholomew down in that area should hold some crappie too. I've never heard of anyone fishing it except for catfish. Anyone fish there, and where can you put in?
I fished Wallace last week during all the rain and I didn't do any good at all. There are only two landings I know of on the Bayou around here that are concrete, one in Little Bayou Refuge and the easiest one to find is just passed Grampus on hwy 82 just west of Montrose about 4 miles. Hope this helps.
Thanks. On Bartholomew - do you know anyone that fishes it, and I assume you need a very small boat?
Right now you can use any size boat you want. It's a little too high and muddy for crappie fishing. It never gets clear anymore like it use to years ago. The landing at the hwy 82 bridge is a new concrete landing and it has a good place to park. I know of a few people who crappie fish there when the water is real low during the early summer.
I am buying some property in that area. Can anyone give me some tips on fishing Wallace for Crappie. I have been on it one time about a month ago right after a rain did not catch a fish.
Thanks in advance
A lot of the locals that live there put out yo yos and fish for crappie or catfish - whichever hits a minnow.
It's a perch paradise. You can pull 50 out of one spot it seems in the summer. Almost everyone of them will be just too small to fillet.
In the past, every fisherman I have seen on the lake is fishing for crappie is fishing with a jig (red and chartreuse often). The lake is shallow so it I've fished for crappie in the middle to the bank with little difference.
Just my experience in the past. I'll be there tomorrow afternoon and give a report.
Thanks I'll be waiting on the report
I like your Scripture reference
Lake Wallace is extremely muddy, and no one caught fish today. I saw one catfish on a yoyo and one boat had caught 1 crappie. I got a few very light hits, and only when I had pink nibble on a black and chartreuse jig.
I never had much luck at wallace for crappie either, have caught some nice bass in there though
bream haven is the reputation of this lake from what i remember.
