Cane Creek 3/14/09
Jim and I finally got to fish at Cane Creek on Saturday! It was really cold but worth it! We only caught 2 but for a couple amateurs like us, two was enough when they were this big!!!! It was actually the first time we took Jim's new boat out so we did prove that his boat can catch big crappie!!!!
-
Wow, those are big. Did you put the scales to them?
-
I couldn't get my scale to work...at first it said 1.5 then 2.2!! So.... who knows. One was 14 inches and the other was 15 inches! We were pretty pleased :)

Those are some nice fish Tammy, did you catch them in the beaver pond, out in the standing dead cypress. A 15 in. crappie would weigh about 2.3 lbs. and a 14 in would weigh about 1.9 lb from Cane Creek. That one you're holding is really dark, was it a male.

Nice fish, Cane Creek is more about quality than quanity.
-
Those are some nice fish, by the way, cane creek can produce 'em all the time!! Thanks to Jerry for informing me!! Will be back down there soon. Again, very nice catch!
-
Very nice. I didn't know anyone could catch crappie out there this time of the year.

Nice looking Fish. Thanks for the post and pic. CP

Jerry, we caught them between the standing dead cypress and the bank. Not that far off the bank. I'm not sure exactly how deep - we snagged them when we were reeling in - but reeling pretty slow so I'm guessing we were pretty deep! There must be a lot of cypress under the water because I got hung up several times!
Mine was a male and Jim's was female....and OMG....they were so tasty!!!!! We're going back this coming weekend and taking Jim's son! I HOPE he catches some!!! I think he'd just love it!

Thanks Tammy, I hope y'all have a good weekend of fishing and camping.
