Tied these up tonight.
I also tie these with a chartreuse body and they are absolutely killer.

SWEEEEEEEET LOOKING JIGS !!!!!!!!!!!! Those are nice you should be able to land some pigs with those!
I have never fished a all black jig myself, most of the water I fish is muddy or stained and I stick to chartruse or bright orange so what kind of water do you fish them in?
Hey Hogan,
I think you got your stuff together on your jigs. Some of the best I have seen anywhere !! The luster on the heads, perfect eyes, great colors and overall look is just fantastic. Great idea on mixing the paint for the heads. What color are the purple ones on "weekend project thread " and do you use an eye dotter for those perfect eyes ? What is the tail stuff on the bettys ?Would you give a material list like you see on trout fly videos?
Nice jigs

Good job
They look like the best jigs used here for steelhead, should catch crappie big time in clear water. I really like them.
A lot of questions so let's start with.
1. q. what color are the purple ones?
a. purple:) the heads are Devcon two part epoxy that I
color with Testors metallic purple enamel. I do paint
the heads with white enamel first.
2 q. Do I use an eye dotter
a. I use a small diameter dowel, usually a bamboo
skewer that you can pick up at the grocery store.
You know the ones that you use for shish ka bobs.
3. q. recipe for the purple ones?
a. tail is purple maraboo with purple crystal flash, and
body is purple cactus chenille. Pretty simple tie.
No, I just dip the lower side of the jig head in the mixture of paint and epoxy, and then I work the epoxy around with a tooth pick.
You will need to have a jig turner otherwise the epoxy will sag.
Here is the jig turner that I use. It is made by Flex Coat.
