welcome to crappie.com. I used to have good luck with rooster tails before I started crappie fishing.
-
welcome delmar. if your creek fishing, like andy said, try a rooster tail with a fast retrieve.
-
Welcome delmar, I want to say a bang o lure stick type bait might get some.
-
ok thanx, ive tried roostertails they work good but dont think i understand whut you are talking about outlaw, could you explain please?
-
where can you get them at?
-
It's a balsa wood 3 1/2 "long or so stick bait with a lip, I believe they sell em at Wally World still. That 's the name Bang O Lure made by Bagley. You must be fishing Mossey,I caught some in there, years back.

I used to catch Jack at the bridges on 247 towards I-75 (upstream) where Rocky creek and Tobesofkee creeks run through (Very swampy) Best spot was behind the Hay-Stack (owned by Ken Harnist) on Pio Nono... Creek is deep in the bends and if you follow it down stream you will find a lot of lilly-pads, thats where the big jack's live...untouched since the trailer park beside the Hay Stack closed about 25 yrs ago...Black and yellow Beetle Spin or with a white double curly tail grub ...Grew up there as a kid and aint been back since i was 17yrs old...Watch for snakes...Good luck

Oh, I forgot to mention that Bowfin (black fish or mud fish) sometimes called by locals are in excess of 10lbs are in that very spot with the state record being at 16lbs (could be broken) but you got to have a steel leader and cut or live brim on bottom to catch them...Wow what a blast to catch but I never would eat one :D

thanx for the info guys, naw its gum swamp

alot of people throw them on the bank, i guess nobody ever showed em how to cook. i enjoy em myself
-
Welcome Delmar, are you talking about Gum Swamp outside of Cochran? If you are, I use to hunt on Gum Swamp Creek and there were some trophy bucks on our club. Our club was on a farm that had soy beans and the bucks were huge. Good luck with your jack fishing.
