I fish mostly stained water but I found a spot yesterday that is crystal clear. Seriously, 3fow and I could see individual grains of dirt on the bottom! Any way, what colors work good in clear water on sunny days, and on cloudy days. We aren't susposed to have clear water round hear, but I found it! Could see crappie all over but could not get a bite, but all my jigs are for muddy water. Usually can't see the jig more than 6 inches deep.
I've always found white, grey and light to medium blue (and mixtures of those colors) to be pretty good. Oh, and light line (2-4 lb) clear mono or fluoro. Let us know how you do.
i would try a shad grey color.and besure to stay back away from the fish,cause if u can see them they can see u
Everyone's tellin me blue/white & silver/blue/chart... have yet to try these combos yet... hard water blues. :( Previously have done well with all white. MallardStack is right, I norm use 6lb anywhere else, but do much better with 2lb in very clear water. Have an extra spool with 2lb that I switch to when fishing clear water. If you can see em' so can everyone else, better go get em quick!!!
Naw, you gotta get out and drag the boat through about 400 yards of 3 inch water to get to em! Don't know why them fishes went way back there, but they did! Course, there is a beaver run with bout a foot of water in it but it is only a foot wide. I reckon they run up it to get back to that clear water pool. I found it deer huntin this year.Quote:

Well, just don't tell no one where... I've got a kayak and zip through 3" of water pretty good! I've got a spot on a lake I thought I was the only one could get into, had to push up and over bout 10 logs in my yak to get back to. Went there one day and a 12' v-bottom alum boat was sittin there... have no idea how they got in there!!!:confused:
My best clear water sunny days is Silver/Lt. Blue/White and I think it is as consistent as can be. If it is cloudy and all else the same then Chart/Lt. Blue/Chart.

When using plastics in the past, I've been able to catch them in clear water on a bright day using a clear plastic with some glitter flakes. Also use a 1/32 oz jig head and very small 3/4" plastic. I saw someone yesterday using a flyrod with a "brim killer" from wallyworld. Its a black ant body with white rubber legs and sinks slowly. He caught a few in front of me where I couldn't get a bite.
