Chicamauga 2/8/09
Got on the water at 11:45 after Sunday School. Trolled in a creek arm off Hiwassee in 5-6 feet of water. Pulled all Southern Pro Hot Grubs 1/16 oz and 1/8 oz heads at .8 mph behind planer boards. Ran 4 boards. No particular color on the grub. Ended up with limit by 2:30. Largest Crappie was 13". Total catch about 50 fish. Caught a mixture of males and females. It looks like the prespawn is starting althought the water is still pretty cold at 44*. Two more days of warm weather, you will have to lay down in the boat to put a bait on or risk being bitten. Go get 'em guys.

Planer Boards
I am the manufacturer of the planer boards ( Crappie Shark ). These boards weigh 3 1/2 oz. They have enough weight to get a good hookset without tearing the paper mouth and still spread the lines. It is a balancing act to manufacture this. This method keeps your bait away from the boat and helps prevent tangles. The fish you pass over run from the boat anyway. Where do they run? To the sides away from that big dark noise above. Thats why you have to have long lines to catch them behind the boat. The fish need enough time to recongregate after the boat passes hence the long line. You can purchase these planers at 58 Short Stop at the Hiwassee bridge or you can email me off forum.
