Im new!!! a lil help
Hey guys! I am new to the forum. Actually I am new to the crave of catching big ol slabs! I usually dont pick up a pole until the end of May after chasing turkeys all across the country but here lately i have been talking to a few folks all talking about crappie fishing and i have the itch. In the morning i am either heading to Harris Brake, Lk Conway, or an old ox bowl lake i have a cabin on around Des Arc. Which direction would you guys think would give the rookie the best chance at catching a few and with those places that i mentioned there is plenty of cover what and how should i throw.

I would go to Gold Creek in Lake Conway, and see Dan at Gold Creek Landing. He can put you on the fish and he can also supply the bait for you. You won't go wrong. They were catching them out of there yesterday. I will be there in the morning.

Welcome to the site, from lower Arkansas. Not familiar with those lakes, but Crappiepro has been posting good results from Gold Creek the last couple of weeks.

Never fished any of those lake but I think I would try the one that I could get out of the wind. Also welcome from Batesville, AR.

When I lived in Little Rock back in the old days, fishing partner from Conway and I would fish Lake Overcup. That was when the crappie average 12 inches or more, and one could catch 30 very easy there. Understand now that isn't the case at Overcup.

HI & welcome to the board. I'm not from ARK. but fish in ARK. for many years during Feb/Mar. Do u mean Bois D'Arc Lake. If so, I'v fished it and caught crappie. I only fly fish, but I would think using a 32/nd oz Beetle Spin, SLOWLY, retrieved in yellow or white with 4lb test would get you crappie.

welcome to the board i would suggest Harris Brake but the wind tomorrow is supposed to be horrible. btw heard they are catching them 8-10 foot deep on Harris Brake. Good luck if you decide to brave the wind.

Weekend went about as expected...Too windy saturday so did some pond jumping and caught a few then was on Harris Brake early Sunday but after dropping my cell phone in the lake at the ramp, stepped on pole getting in boat, and only 3 small crappie and a couple nice bass I was headed to Benton by 11! Thanks for the advice everyone but didnt get them figured out. Caught all my fish slow rolling a 1/32 oz road runner around sunk brush by some docs. The good update i have friend that has a trailor on Ouachita at fishermans village and kept 20 sunday after being shut out Saturday.
