Bet it looks even better in the water. nice job
Man that thing looks awesome! How did you get that long tail to stick straight out like that?? Do you have some wire wrapped around the chenelle? Good work.
No actually the tension of the wound hackle keeps it out ,but it wiggles freely in the water .
I guess you already tank tested this creature. Was that one super long hackle or did you tie off and use two or three? I might try to tie a couple of these myself. Very creative,ff.
A couple changes with color and jig head and it would make a killer hellgramite jig. You ever tie up any of those?
It's 2 I I wrap the tail 1st strech chennel between 2 vise's then tie 1st hackle then I cut it off 1/2 long on chennel tie it to hook shank then go over it with hackle. you'll pull your hair on the 1st one. the helgra was My #1 bass jig in a 3/8 never fish any small than 1/8.
Excellant work! Neat idea.
UG
Awesome tie - outside the box - great job.
Wow! Does it wet down enuf to cast into the wind?
Yep ! it lays down bout 1/4 then opens in the water bout like pic. slow days you need a #6 trailer they 'll tail it alot but the 6 will get'im.
Ahhh,I thought there might be more to it. About the hellgramite, how about a 1/8 on a 1/0 football head. You know I'm talking smallies and I have some 1/8 poured up to a #2/0 Mustad 32746.Those hooks are bad. It's January and i'm already thinking of June.
Tie it in a cinnamon brown little black splash some olive in there dark br. head black and green flake ! You don't have a good enough pole do Ya Jim!
Yes it work's guy's 6 this morning
Was there any doubt ? Must have been a great morning to be out,Sunny and calm.Judging from the reel on the right someone must be a southpaw.Better tie up a few more.
Good stuff FF46 - proof is in the fish.....
Wow...nice jig. So you use 2 vices when you tie this pattern...interesting
